Pacific Pride [Yankee Soda, Fire Talk Records]
Early this month a new EP was released from Pacific Pride on label Fire Talk Records. "Yankee Soda" rounds off the 5 track EP which is very reminiscent and represents why we all loved the 90's. Get the EP here

Orchard Thief [Transparent Popsicle, Fire Talk Records]
Very excited for the next release on Fire Talk Records which comes from the Minneapolis band Orchard Thief. The label writes "Ebbing between slow guitar builds and fully fleshed out nostalgia waves...the perfect companion for late night chillz or long desolate drives" and I couldn't agree more with that statement. The EP cassette will be released March 29th and can be found here

Baby Birds Don't Drink Milk [MT2, Solid Melts]

Drew, from one of my new favorite bands BBDM, over the weekend sent another track off of the band's latest album, Skeletor & Me. The track is pretty different sounding than some of the other songs that I've posted here from the album as this one is a lot more noisy, chaotic and distorted (or was that Soundcloud messing up). The album is currently available on vinyl on Fire Talk Records or as cassette on Solid Melts and will be shipped out late October.

Dash Jacket [Leisure Burn 7'', Fire Talk Records]

This amazing new garage gem from OC boys Matt and Thom was the third new 7'' single from label Fire Talk Records. Dash Jacket have quickly become one of my favorite new young bands around as their music is the perfect brand of lo-fi garage rock. Even though the track is a bit short, coming in at under 2 minutes, that is just more of a reason to move the needle back on the opening grooves of this catchy song to play over and over.

Dead Gaze [Emanuel Can't Come Close Enough, Fire Talk Records]

Lately I've been pretty interested in the music from Mississippi's Dead Gaze and was stoked to seem him as the latest artist to be released on Fire Talk Records. All of the recordings are done solely by Cole Furlow who brilliantly put together this garage track. "Emanuel Can't Come Close Enough" is the B Side from the record and has a November 23rd release date. The single can be found here for pre-order.

Gem Trails [Old Kid, Fire Talk Records]

A few weeks ago in July I mentioned the new side project of Trevor Peteron (Woodsman) called Gem Trails in which the demo version of the song "See Colors" was released. This afternoon Trevor sent over another track called "Old Kid" which is another brilliant experimental ambient psychedelic track. The song still has a slow build to it but this time around the vocals are more clear and also features a sample of Trevor and his sister as little kids near the middle of the song. The song is going to be released as a 7'' on Fire Talk Records but as of right now no release date has been set.

Tjutjuna [Tjujuna 12'', Fire Talk Records]

A few months back Tjutjuna released an EP on Sound Cloud (currently not available) called Couch Shell in follow up to their 7'' single release "Collider" which was leading up to this; their self-titled full length debut album. The album can be streamed here while the single "Bottle Kids" can be heard below. The band specialize in psycedelic sounds and musical imagery; if the album artwork is an indication of how this album will sound, this should be one helluva musical experience. The album can be picked up here and is limited to 500 copies.

Gem Trails [See Colors, Fire Talk Records]

Gem Trails is the new side project from Woodsman lead, Trevor Peterson. The new band has the essence of Woodsman, mostly because of the faint vocals and psychedelicness of the track (close your eyes while listening and see where your mind takes you), but there is a clear distinction between the two bands. So far from the demo version of the track, "See Colors" it is a fairly lengthy song with a slow build and has a more minimalist approach to it. There is no hint of guitar or drums, but keyboards and sound effects which loop and blend together seamlessly like two colors colliding in water. Needless to say, this is a very interesting song and project and it is easy to lose yourself in it (I mean it, close your eyes and see what happens). Gem Trails played their first show a few days ago on July 14th in Boulder, CO.

Thousand Owl [ = , Fire Talk]

I covered Unsa Oonm a couple months ago when I first learned that they were gonna have a cassette released on Fire Talk Records. The cassette is now available but the band has undergone a name change. The band is now known as Thousand Owl, but the album's name is still the same, = . No word yet on a tour but hopefully soon in support of the new cassette.

Tennis [South Carolina 7'', Fire Talk Records]

As I closed my eyes listening to the new track released from Tennis, I was immediately surrounded by sea water; the smell of the ocean breeze struck my nostrils and the sound of seagulls could be heard from overhead. I was free from the life I have slowly enslaved myself to. After reading more about the married duo on their blog and learning about the nautical adventures they endured, living on the sea and being free, the music strikes a certain spot within the soul. The song "South Carolina" is refreshing and pure; beautiful and peaceful. The shackles of mediocrity shatter off and one is found amongst the seafarers sailing the high seas with nothing but gorgeous blue hues ahead.

Tennis [Marathon, Underwater Peoples Records]

Colorado has been a hot spot as of late; Woodsman, Tjutjuna, Gauntlet Hair, Weed Diamond and many others seem to be releasing music at such a rapid pace, and new band Tennis is no exception. They may not be as psychedelic like some of the others but that does not take from how good this band sounds. They are more mellow and chill; the track Patrick sent over (off a soon to be released 7'' from Underwater People's) sounded awesome. Tennis will have a 7'' single released in July on Fire Talk Records.
