Julian Lynch [Back, Underwater Peoples Records]

Julian Lynch is back with another track that has been making the rounds on blogs all over the world the last couple days. The song is simply exceptional and will be off the forthcoming record Terra which can be pre-ordered now from Underwater Peoples

Family Portrait [Other Side, Underwater Peoples Records]

Been a huge fan of New Jersey's Family Portrait since I got a copy of their cassette from the Curatorial Club. The following track will be from their full length record released on Underwater Peoples in April and am definitely looking forward to the release.  The LP can be pre-ordered here

Melted Toys [Come On, Underwater Peoples Records]

"Come On" is the track I've been waiting to be officially released by Underwater Peoples for Melted Toys and thankfully it has. By far one of the band's best songs, which they perform perfectly live, will be part of the EP titled Washed & Dry coming out February 22nd (artwork above). Peep the track below and watch these guys live.

Event: Melted Toys

I've been a huge admirer of San Francisco's Melted Toys for quite some time now and was pretty stoked to receive the following tour poster for the band. This beautifully made poster was done by  the band  by Jared Silbert (twin brother to Young Prisms' Jordan) and will be the first time the trio embark on a state-wide tour. With an EP coming out in February on Underwater Peoples and a Noisepop gig set this February, things are looking very bright for these awesome dudes. If they are in your area, do I even need to recommend checking them out...its a given right?

Note: Thanks to commenter for the poster artist correction

Melted Toys [Lost Connection, Underwater Peoples Records]

I have been following Melted Toys very closely since August and after seeing them perform three times since, I have become very excited about the prospects of this young band.  Coming from San Francisco, Melted Toys have a dark pop sound seemingly 80's sounding but refreshingly contemporary. The above image is the cassette cover from the unmastered version (tour only) of their debut EP on Underwater Peoples next year.

Spectrals [Peppermint Music Video, Underwater Peoples Records]

I've become a huge fan of Spectrals over the last few months and while this video isn't brand spanking new, it is still a great music video for an equally great song.  Spectrals' new EP was just released on Underwater Peoples this week and in case you missed the earlier post, below is the single "Chip A Tooth (Spoil A Smile)"

Spectrals [Chip A Tooth (Spoil A Smile), Moshi Moshi Records/Underwater Peoples Records]

UK based Spectrals just dropped his latest 7 track EP titled A Spectrals Extended Play out on CD and digitally on Moshi Moshi Records, while the vinyl release for this project on Underwater Peoples has yet to be announced. After listening to the song on yesterday's forkcast, I was instantly hooked on the vintage sound from the Leeds musician as he creates ambient lo-fi pop tunes with some excellent song writing. A 7'' was released on Captured Tracks late last year and is still worth getting a hold of.

Andrew Cedarmark [Moon Delux, Underwater Peoples Records]

Over the last couple days two tracks from former Titus Andronicus memeber Andrew Cedarmark have popped up on Pitchfork and my mailbox. "Hard Livin'" premiered here where Larry Fitzmaurice of Pitchfork was full of praise and made the clear distinction between Cedarmark's Andronicus stint and his latest endeavor. This new track "Moon Delux" shows the musical diversity that Cedarmark is capable of and will hopefully represent itself on his solo release of the same name released on September 14th on Underwater Peoples Records. What I loved about the song was the introduction and the wailing guitar that pops up throughout the entire song; the music flows on by until the wind chimes indicate that its over. This track is more instrumental than "Hard Livin'" but Cedarmark's ability as a musician is in full force.

Mountain Man [Sun Dog EP, Underwater Peoples Records]

The new 10'' vinyl from the wonderfully gifted Vermont folk trio, Mountain Man. The release has been a long time coming and the anticipation was becoming a little too much. It will be in limited quantities on sea-foam vinyl. Sun Dog EP is a collection of five songs, which are alternate recordings from their debut LP release titled Made The Harbor on Partisan Records. Both records will be released on July 20th.

The 10'' can be picked up here

Julian Lynch [Droplet on a Hot Stone 7'', Underwater Peoples Records]

Got an email yesterday from Underwater People's about this upcoming 7'' single from Julian Lynch. The A-side features a track recorded for the UP compilation released last year, while the B-side is a track from an older album of his.

The 7'' can be pre-ordered here and comes with the Born2Run CDR

Julian Lynch [Live at Gates of Heaven, Live Clip]

Found this video over on the Underwater People's blog and loved all 13 minutes of this live clip. I've been listening to Julian Lynch a lot more lately as he is a very talented musician and this clip is an example of his abilities

Tennis [Marathon, Underwater Peoples Records]

Colorado has been a hot spot as of late; Woodsman, Tjutjuna, Gauntlet Hair, Weed Diamond and many others seem to be releasing music at such a rapid pace, and new band Tennis is no exception. They may not be as psychedelic like some of the others but that does not take from how good this band sounds. They are more mellow and chill; the track Patrick sent over (off a soon to be released 7'' from Underwater People's) sounded awesome. Tennis will have a 7'' single released in July on Fire Talk Records.
