The Roots [The Undun Video Series]

Over the last few weeks, Okayplayer have premiered a four piece video series in preparation for the The Roots new album, The Undun. As has been reported, the new record is a narrative which can best be described below:

"undun is an existential re-telling of the short life of one Redford Stephens (1974-1999). Through the use of emotives and Redford’s internal dialogues the album seeks to illustrate the intersection of free will and prescribed destiny as it plays out ‘on the corner’. Utilizing a reverse narrative arc, the album begins as the listener finds Redford disoriented–postmortem–and attempting to make sense of his former life. As he moves through its pivotal moments he begins to deconstruct all that has led to his (and our own) coming undun"

The album drops December 6th

"The Shrine" is possibly my favorite cut from the sophomore Fleet Foxes effort and I'm glad to see it has a killer music video to go along with it. The band has never shied away from making visually pleasing videos and the above one is no exception.

New video and song from friends Thrall titled "Fogger"

"...raw footage, spliced from Věra Chytilová’s 1966 Czech film called “Daisies” - Sedmikrásky in Czech, a self-described “mad cap feminist farce.” See also the Czechoslovak New Wave movement. A couple sequences are borrowed from the experimental filmmaker Oskar Fischinger’s “Spirals” which was (astoundingly) created in 1926."

 

Ganglians [That's What I Want Live Clip, Terroreyes]

Even though Terroreyes had made the move from Sacramento to Los Angeles over the summer that wouldn't stop Sean from filming his good friends Ganglians during their recent tour. And while the two have worked together several times in the California state capital this video differs a bit from the high energy shots that made up the others. The band is stripped down to acoustic instruments as they perform a personal favorite from their new LP Still Living.
