The Sandwitches [My Heart Does Swell, Live Clip]

Discovered a new music/video website called Echolocale last night and it just so happens they posted several live shots of The Sandwitches performing new songs from their upcoming LP. The site is based out of Berkeley and have worked with artists like Space Ghost, Grand Lake and Mini Mansions. Check out more from The Sandwitches session here and pick up Mrs Jones' Cookies here on Empty Cellar Records.

Sonny and the Sandwitches [Throw My Ashes From This Pear when I Die, Empty Cellar Records]

Not long ago, Sonny Smith (Sonny & The Sunsets) survived a near-drowning off the coast of northern california. The experience affected him profoundly and led to a wealth of output including a play, a novel, and a stack of songs. Sonny's critically acclaimed "100 Records" project is itself a direct product of Sonny's fight with the sea. A novel he began, "Adelard the Drowned", broke into 100 pieces. Four of those pieces come as songs on this 7" e.p., each bound to the next by a twisted braid of water and death. Through the fog and the haze, however, there lies in these songs a shared sense of redemption, transformation, or reawakening. Featuring appearances by Heidi and Grace of the The Sandwitches and a long-lost band called The Transients, this record features Sonny's songwriting at its strongest, staring death in the face. Perhaps, this is in part why the ocean gave him back. Recorded in San Francisco and mastered by Paul Oldham - Empty Cellar Records

The 7'' is out December 11th and can be picked up here

The Sandwitches [Makes Me Sick 7'', Southpaw Records]

Makes Me Sick is the title of the new 7'' and track from San Francisco haunting folk rockers The Sandwitches. This, the second single for Oakland's Southpaw Records, follows up their terrific How To Make Ambient Sad Cake debut and recent Duck Duck Goose EP, but still harnesses more of those chilling lullabies. The A-side, "Makes Me Sick" features plucked guitar playing throughout but it is the piano line that sends chills down the spine.

The 7'' can be picked up here and should ship out sometime in August

The Sandwitches [Song of Songs, Secret Seven Records]

The new six song ep from San Francisco's The Sandwitches is now available for pre-order and will be shipping out mid-July. It features 4 new tracks along with covers of Tim Cohen's (Fresh & Onlys) "Rock of Gibralter" and "Baby Mine". After reading more about this record, this seems to be there most haunting set of songs to date, the more reason to check out this fantastic band.

The ep can be pre-ordered here and is limited to 500 copies

The Sandwitches will be having a new EP released on Secret Seven Records, out sometime within the next couple months (sorry I have no release date information or mp3 yet). The wicked album cover is now featured on the site so I'm assuming sometime soon...I hope.

The Sandwitches [How To Make Ambient Sadcake]

I had been interested in this band out of San Francisco for awhile but never got around to picking up the LP until last week. Needless to say it is a fun record, featuring ex-members from The Fresh & Onlys, complete with 13 tracks loaded with 60's pop, beach and garage music. If you haven't yet heard their earlier 7'' release, which can be found here, go out and pick that up too. How To Make Ambient Sadcake can be purchased here
