Kevin Greenspon [Barring Will, Bridgetown Records]

Kevin Greenspon’s Bridgetown Records recently put out their summer sampler featuring a collection of twenty-one tracks from their summer releases. Among the catalog are Kevin’s own creations, and the California native never fails to bring fresh sounds to the table. The Greenspon who shared a release with Cloud Nothings is hardly recognizable these days, but the same passion and delightful sounds are there. Greenspon's "Paradise A.D." is made up of fifteen new and revisited tracks from five limited edition cassettes. This is a noteworthy release from Greenspon; spanning genres, multiple physical releases, label upstart and touring machine, this is a well deserved collection. Pick up "Paradise A.D." here.

Kevin Greenspon [Common Objects, Family Time Records]

After several cassette, CD-R and split projects released within such a short amount of time, Kevin Greenspon finally gets the vinyl treatment for his full length LP titled Common Objects. I've been a fan of Kevin since early this year and I have been enjoying what he brings with each new release. Whether one wants to define him as experimental, pop or droned either way his music encompasses all of the above with a passion like no other. Pick up the album here

Kevin Greenspon / Cloud Nothings [Split CD-R, Bridgetown Records]

Monday afternoon, Kevin Greenspon informed me that his long awaited split CD-R with Cloud Nothings was now ready to be heard and released to the world. I love split CD/Cassette/vinyl releases as they always offer something special and this one truly delivers. Greenspon is a fantastic songwriter who crafted five outstanding, albeit lyrically dark tracks for the split. He is accompanied by Travis von Sydow (Ancient Crux) on drums. Dylan Baldi's five contributions are splendid and catchy pop songs that see his recording technique improved to give a much cleaner sound and a little less on the raw lo-fi from his earlier releases.

The CDs are limited to 250 copies and can be found here and on cassette here

Kevin Greenspon [Bracing, Family Time Records]

Kevin Greenspon is an artist; what he creates musically will either hit one immediately or the concept behind the songs will keep one sitting there replaying the track over and over, while during each play something new is found that went unnoticed only minutes before. The music is a blend ambient melodies and pop with noise elements thrown in. The songs on his latest, "Bracing" are mostly instrumental with some vocals, but the arrangement of the tracks is engaging and never really sound the same after each listen. Most of Kevin's catalog can be found over on his label, Bridgetown Records as well as some of the other artists he distros (Ancient Crux, Vehicle Blues and soon Weed Diamond)
